I am proud to announce that my first book, Old School Modelling, is in the shops now, and is available too from the Key Publishing website. Released in bookazine format, Old School Modelling details how to get the best from traditional materials such as enamel paints, without the hassle of battlinig with quick-drying acrylics. It is an introduction to the techniques I use, many of them unique to my modelling 'style', and created by me during my fifty years of modelling to achieve realistic finishes on small-scale replicas. It also details my simple airbrushing methodology, with step-by-step guidance on achieving spray patterns by utilizing distance, stripping, cleaning, and a troubleshooting guide. Finally, if you've ever struggled to achieve a super-smooth matt, satin, or gloss finish when using Humbrol enamel varnishes, in Old School Modelling you'll learn why and how to achieve your desired finish using those often disparaged but highly versatile enamel varnishes.

Old school modelling
On the bench we have a big commission build in the form of Tamiya's 1/32nd scale Mosquito FB Mk.VI. There is a lot of plastic stuffed into this box, which means many weeks of hard work ahead.
Fresh from the spray shop is the second model from Eduard's dual combo' Royal Class release, the first of which was a commission for a collector in America. This particular model was originally intended to be a replica of CY-M, ''Miss Marilyn II'' flown by 2nd Lieutenant Richard Ozinga, and great care was taken to replicate the weathering and wear on the wing tops so evident in photographs of that aircraft. However, Eduard's unpredictable decals let me down, and so alternatives had to be found. The only others I could find featuring similar 343rd Fighter Group markings were those in the recent Airfix release, and these were beautiful Cartograph examples which worked perfectly. And so I present to you; CY-G, ''The Millie G'' flown by Major Edward Giller. Unfortunatley it is a slightly inaccurate replica due to it's unexpected genesis.
